thinking about breaking down the boxes now. the corner is getting cluttered and i HATE throwing away anything i can take out to my back yard and torch.

My mountain of laundry expanded when the War Queen hurled on the bed and I ended up having to strip it down to the mattress. Fortunately, I got everything off the bed before it soaked through to the mattress. I don't think I'm gonna get the laundry finished today......
But at least I found my missing wristwatch.

well, thats a bonus i spose!

i think for the rest of the day, i will ressume my favored time consuming activity of being unproductive.

oh, im sure you could rope WD into helping once she gets there!

been gathering cans and burning the plastic off of copper wires cause im gonna go cash em both in here in a couple hours.
ironically, the broken cymbol of my cousin's that ive had for years is actually made outta copper! so theres 4lbs right there that should be worth its weight not including the 2 to 5 lbs of copper wire i have.
im guessing i have around 50lbs of cans, maybe more.
all proceeds are going towards kegging equipment that we should be picking up tomorrow or friday.

im off to hit the showers and then the couch to play some golf and later watch a movie til i crash for the night.

Changing my plans. It had looked like an afternoon of finding workarounds for a tech issue.

Fortunately it turned out to be something the tech person could easily fix.

And so I get to go back to my regularly scheduled workday program.

Which kind of sucks, figuring out workarounds for minor tech emergencies is slightly more interesting and garners more appreciation from people than just doing my regular job.

Actually, am glad it was resolved, although I came up with a workaround, it only worked on the most recent versions of browser software, and only on PCs, for a program that gets a lot of patronage from mac users...so my fix wasn't a very good one...

well, i think im awake now.

spose i should i should grab a scouring pad and head downstairs.

What makes the situation more amusing is that my supervisor is supposed to be the one approaching the tech person for things like that.

Well....my supervisor and the tech person seem to have habits and philosophical approaches to work that are custom designed to set off one another's pet peeves, resulting in tension and conflicts and not getting things done.

The person first having problems also isn't quite tech savvy enough to know if there really is a legitimate problem, or if she just can't find a feature, and she's afraid to approach the tech person for what might be a non-issue.

My supervisor is from France, has a thick accent, doesn't write instructions well, and unless you've worked with him for a while, it is hard to decipher what he's saying at times...since the person having problems only works with him sporadically, she can't understand what he says....

So, I'm the one who is approached on these issues now, to first establish whether or not there is really a problem, and then help explain to the tech person (in a nonthreatening manner) what the issue is...The person having the problem is barely aware of the fact that there are different versions of a browser, and wouldn't be able to articulate that this was (in part) a browser issue...

Add to that the fact that it is two different departments on opposite ends of campus...and I'm the only person willing to walk across campus to see what the computers are actually DOING at that end...(I don't think my supervisor even knows where that building is...)

And a fun time is had by ALL!

Actually, it does make for a nice excuse to go for a walk, so it has its perks...

and this, KK, is where the university should pay attention to who SHOULD be the supervisor!
gods, that reminds me of all the customer support hotlines.... hmmmm.... lets hire people who cant speak english to be phone ops in the united states of fuckin america where the main language is..... ENGLIGH!

Ah, but our supervisor was persistent enough and went the extra mile to get my coworker and I our raises for the year, and I know for a fact that the boss above him wouldn't have lifted a finger to do that...Supervisor had to work around his boss and get paperwork from the admin people, which shouldn't have been his responsibility...

I think we are the only ones in our division who got raises....the rest were under other supervisors, or directly under the big boss....

Just goes to show what a fun confusing mess things are.

of course.... he is french... and they are known for their abilities to swing both ways to get what they want.
