1. Do I quit a secure job (though one that I'm starting to burn out on, that my heart's not in) with great coworkers and go back for a second MA, in Library science, or do I sit tight and wait to see what happens next with our screwed up economy?


2. Is it possible to keep the full time job here, but work at a distance, and go to school part time, but live there? In terms of doing the job, it's feasible. In terms of what my supervisors and the university in general will allow, it's questionable, and probably a no (but possibly, given the direction we might take, a yes).

3. I hate driving (not to mention if I have a migraine, the depth perception goes wonky, so driving is a BAD idea on some days) and I hate computer classes (the ones where you "attend" by watching the class via some sort of online connection). So the distance learning option is out. And driving in one or two days a week is out.

4. Though I might be willing to compromise. If I rent an efficiency there, and I had a choice on which days to come here, maybe once every two weeks to pick up job related material, etc. There might be a possibility. If my employer would allow it.

5. Assistantships provide a tuition waiver and offer a stipend to (thoretically, but never quite) cover living expenses, they would allow me to take classes full time and be done sooner.

But:

Working full time also gives me a tuition waiver, and much better pay. And I'd retain job security.

But:

It would take much longer though, and be more work, and wouldn't give me the opportunities for expanding my abilities and experience that an assistantship might. And there's the burnout issue again with the current job.

this new A/C kicks ass! it feels like a freezer in here and i only have it set at 70 for a change. used to have to set the old one at 62 just to keep it cool in here.
gotta go to Blakus' house this afternoon/evening. his son threw quite the fit yesterday about me not coming over then. but it was already 8pm and i could tell that the kids were tired and cranky and of course Blakus and his wife were getting tired too.
somehow, we're sposta fit laundry into todays menu as well.... gods i wish we had a waRshing machine, we do have a dryer though.

Blakus's son was more than thrilled that we came over today.
Blakus however, nailed another "holty" (aka automatic win) as we call it in our version of beersbie. hes the only one who's done it and hes done it twice. lucky bastard!!
got home to find my fermenter going into hyperactive so i had to get it all sorted out.
and now Z is forcing me to be online since he wants to do stuff on whatever game hes playing.

omm...

well, in the middle of the night i ended up having to put a blow off tube on my fermenter. first time ive ever done that but i should have done it several times before.
will prolly end up having to do the same to Blakus' fermenter as well though.

To answer your question RS its a dog. A 25 lb. 9 week old german shephard/hound mix. His name is Tank. And I also start my new job in 3 weeks.

i prefer punching the edges of the kitchen table or the top of the backs of the wooden chairs. makes the knuckles stronger.

had to put a blow off tube on Blakus' fermenter too just a little while ago.
i think we'll just have to start doing that all the time. so much more convenient than messing with airlocks that tend to get gunked up sometimes during fermentation.
neighbor boy is here hanging out with Z but just 10 minutes ago Z was wanting us to walk down to get Blakus's son. still might have to do that.

*Wonders which is healthier to eat....well cared for dog on a diet of standard dog food, or factory farm pig that lives in its own poo*

*Suspects dog is much healthier to eat, but until further notice will stick with bacon, though rarely, as I don't like bacon or pork or any pig meat much because it tastes like the farms smell*

Of course, unbathed dog reeks as well....and dogs usually have terrible breath....
