Yes, I think the storyline was poor, and the only thing that made that movie what it is, is the graphics. No wonder it cost so bloody much- did anyone see the end credits?? Those people all need paying you know.
I personally liked the idea of it, and while I watched it to the end, I felt the storyline was indeed weak. As a writer myself, I feel that it was all rather thrown-together. Almost as if they had focussed so much on the graphical ingenios and then realised deadlines were looming so rushed the end. I am sure as it was written they did not intend for the rushed feel, however it leaves me wanting.
I guess they may bring out another story, but I see that being nowhere near as sucessful.
Beowulf still, for me, remains one of the best relatively new films- stronger storyline, simpler graphics, but left me satisfied.
As great as avatar was, like some say, many of the ideas were not new, copied if you will from other storylines, and it is my belief that the only thing holding this film together was the graphics, which were both stunning and extremely well put together.
