LONDON - British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking says aliens are out there, but it could be too dangerous for humans to interact with extraterrestrial life.
Hawking claims in a new documentary that intelligent alien lifeforms almost certainly exist, but warns that communicating with them could be "too risky."
The 68-year-old scientist says a visit by extraterrestrials to Earth would be like Christopher Columbus arriving in the Americas, "which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans."
He speculates most extraterrestrial life will be similar to microbes, or small animals — but adds advanced lifeforms may be "nomads, looking to conquer and colonize."
The Discovery Channel said Sunday it will broadcast "Stephen Hawking's Universe" in Britain next month

| Aliens could be different if they have managed to learn what we have not, such as how to live with those different from yourself. Granted, we might have something that they would want or need (MARS NEEDS WOMEN!!) but chances are they could/can find what they want elsewhere without going through the messy business of conquering and plundering. | |

| Well isn't Hawking a black cloud. Seems like he's being a wee bit paranoid. I know that there has to be some good entities traveling about the stars. Not all of them can be hell bent on out destruction. I do admit we may find ourselves facing a real Andromeda Strain able to cause widespread illness that will take down a good portion of the population. As for higher lifeforms, I have faith we will meet some lovely species that will be good galactic neighbors. You know what they say about black clouds. Some do have silver linings. Hope we're still aroung to see the day we make contact. Might have already. Who knows. | |

| OMNI magazine(Anyone remeber OMNI magazine?) interviewed astronaut Neil Armstrong back in the early 90's. He was quoted saying there had been a Mars mission scheduled for 1984. At that time, President Ronald Reagan, was more concerned with space based missle defense systems, and "peaceful" exploration of space was put on hold. That makes it 26 years, and we still haven't returned to Luna yet. NASA has really lost focus. We were to have a lunar base, a space based construction satellite(to build starships in space and launch them into parts unknown) and gone to Mars by now. The space shuttle fleet is soon to be mothballed. I don't see a bright future when it comes to the stars. The E.T.'s will have to come here because we ain't going there. | |

| I believe Carl Sagan would tell Hawking we are all made of star stuff. Aliens included. That would mean we all were cut from the same cloth. Best to make Earth presentable, stock up on groceries and put out the "Welcome mat". Time to welcome our celestial cousins. Remember people. We have only one chance to make a good impression. | There is a group hmm wonder if I can find the girls contact info ... they are in like New Mexico or Arizona and they claim they DO have the aliens come on a regular visits, like house guests ... She was inviting me to come down, and do some work there and teach a class on Astral stuff .. Gotta admit, I personally thought well that is interesting .. but my head tipped to the side and my forehead got that thinking wrinkle LOL shakes head MAYBE they do! dunno t | |
