I KNEW that would be your answer! Laughing

What I listen to depends on what I'm doing. Right now, I've got my favorite playlist going which has the music that I'm going to [eventually] write belly dance choreography for and the song "Remember" from the "Troy" soundtrack.
If I'm writing battle scenes, I'll pull out the soundtrack to Conan the Barbarian soundtrack. [Arnold in his prime and mostly [when not entirely!] naked. YUM! geek ] Other action scenes of a swashbuckling nature usually call for a Zorro or Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. The love/romance/heartbreak scenes call for love songs.
On Thanksgiving, when I will be doing a marathon in the kitchen, I'll pull out my "Energy" playlist which starts with "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora, followed by "Can't Stop Rockin'" by ZZ Top and it takes off from there with a selection of songs that will keep my energy up and me on my feet until I can collapse in front of a plate full of turkey and fixins'! I have to use headphones with that one since Skywise and the girls really don't need the stimulation. The only problem is that I tend to mark the beat with my heel while I'm cooking and I'm the only one who is listening to the music! Giggles It's worse when I sing along....

damnitdamnitdamnit....
only made $131 off of the scrap metal... looks like i might have to sell my truck after all to aid in the brewery finances. had i did all this a month earlier, the going price for scrap iron was $180 per ton. this month its dropped to $80 per ton.... WTF!??

Hugs All the commodities markets are volatile right now. Despite what the news reports say, people are still worried about the economy and those that have money to invest are very skittish. The price of crude oil drops so they buy copper futures. The price of sugar rises so they sell copper and buy sugar. Then sugar starts to fall and they dump it and buy something else. The stock market is starting to stabilize and once investors are convinced that the bottom isn't going to drop out again, they will go back to putting their money in stock and the commodities markets should stabilize too but only the Gods know when that is going to be.
Damned cold comfort, I know.

well, to be perfectly honest, the markets havent improved other than what theyre telling the public... all thats happened is a band-aid treatment as theyve always done. nothing has been fixed in reality.... but we're made to think it has...

anyway, ive decided to scratch some of the stuff on the list of things to get and make said stuff myself which will be just as effective and loads cheaper.

I've always been of the "if I can make it myself, I will" mindset which is why I have at least a working knowledge with a number of skills! I HATE spending money for something I can do myself.....

aye, that was the original plan but we were hoping to make enough so that wouldnt have to make alot of stuff ourselves. lol but ah well, i know how to do it all anyway so no biggie.

anyway, i just went through 2 of my trash cans out back that are filled with bottles and cans and whatnot and scrounged up another 22 bottles i can clean up and use. too bad most of the bottles out there are twist-offs or have the wrong lips for capping. if i wasnt so picky, id use some of the green bottles but i really dont like those kinds cause they let too much light hit the beer while its in the waiting phase.

ok, well, on the way to Kat's place, i stopped by the friar tuck's (the closest beer store... and i mean beer store as its the size of normal grocery stores) to pick up the 4th fermententing bucket and some more ingredients. after talkling to Blakus on the phone while i was searching around, we decided to give a go at some lighter colored brews this time instead of our usual amber to dark brown colored beers we have been making.

this choice came souly due to most people around this area being scared of darker colored and more flavorful beers.... such narrow minded chicken shits!!! Laughing

on a cool note! me, RD, Z, and JT went out to eat at our usual pub of choice, and lo and behold, two of my uncles and their wives showed up!! (one uncle, of course, is the sheriff of the county the pub is located in!) and i talked him into ordering a michelob amberbock while the rest of em ordered bud light. bud light... ugh!!!! and of course told em about my brewing and plans for the brewery which both of my uncles are interestred in!!
Woot!

then again, my other uncle (their youngest brother) who wasnt there, is a MAJOR connoisseur of beers worldwide due to his former military status of 20+ years and has sampled more beers than i can even think of!!! now he is gonna be the one im gonna have to impress come dec. 26th!!! which i shouldnt think would be a problem!! Wink

drinking another MA as we speak. its good, but not quite excellent like the last time i brewed it.

mental note to self:
up the quantity of the key ingredient and go with my new calulated time for adding it.

actually, last night, RD and i were discussing the MA i brewed. as the maple flavor didnt come out very strong, but it still tastes great.... ive decided to keep this recipe and call it "Fall's Amber Ale" since it simply has a fall/autumn flavor to it. Thumbs Up

looks like im gonna have to give another go at my MA. just this time with a different recipe.

ETA: im also considering brewing a honey ale sometime in the near future.

You have a "honey farm" in the neighborhood? We have one on the other side of town and they also have a shop in town. I'm thinking I'm going to have to start using some recipes with honey because Moonie likes to visit and always gets honey. I have quite a supply and I really need to use it for something!

aye, we have a few local honey farms that actually make a few different flavor varieties and tons of people who raise their own bees and honey.

No supply problems then and with several farms competing for your business (when you are using a LOT of honey) you should be able to get it at a good price.

opps, forgot to mention, ive got 3 of the recipes the old coven used to brew now! these brews date back around 200 years or so. the ingredients are common for this area, but im gonna have to re-do the math as theyre for 15 gallon batches. and of course im gonna have to tweek the recipes a bit as they are rather old and crude and i cant read some of the writing. but 2 of the 3 sound rather interesting and since these are old coven secrets, im not gonna reveal whats in em.

Well of course you won't! And that will add to the mystique of your product and drive other brewers and "beer nuts" crazy trying to figure out what's in them!

well, the ingredients are rather common.... but if i tweek em a bit, itll just make em more difficult to figure out.

anyway, i have an american pale ale that im thinking about brewing tonight.
the 10 gallons we did the other night look as though theyre about done fermenting already. i hope they turn out as light as theyre sposto.....

on another note, Blake's cousin works a HUGE beer suply store down in st louis, even bigger than friar tuck's from what we understand. and he said he can hook us up with his employee discount on pretty much whatever we want. so coming up here soon, we're gonna take a trip down yonder to see what we can get! Thumbs Up

as i am sitting and sipping this ale
standing close by are my friends oh so pale
whispering softly into my ear
"get off your ass and lets brew some beer"
get out some home brews and start them a'chill
prepare the equipment as the brew pot we fill
turn on the music and crank up the tunes
lets get this house roasting with lovely beer fumes!!
