I like The Nutcracker Suite, once a year, then I'm done. I like the music to Carol of the Bells.
Just about anything else, I'm ready to do grievous bodily harm to some-one very quickly.
Is it just me???

I love the carols. I just don't like when they start before thanksgiving... They always help to put me in the holiday spirit (which some years is a task indeed)

I like Christmas music. I was in Christmas programs from elementary school straight through high school and I STILL find myself singing along sometimes. My favorite Christmas albums are by Mannheim Steamroller. Which reminds me.....

Two local radio stations start playing Christmas music at mid-night on Halloween Night, and keep going until New Years. This is the best way to kill any holyday spirit anyone would have, or hope to have. It's overkill. I like Christmas music. In small doses. My favorite song is "Blue Christmas" sung by Porky Pig.

You should post that YouTube which I haven't been able to look at yet.

yeah when i was a kid. but there's a quote that sums up my feelings on carols perfectly by my good friend-"after ten minutes, your mind starts to come undone. The singing clings to your ears like annoying holiday ear wax, and there is no Qtip known to man that can swab that kind of shit." ~Jen Jen

Only very specific obscure versions of songs that they are unlikely to destroy by repeatedly playing on the radio or in stores.
I have a christmas album by Kitaro that still sounds OK to me.
The rest, well, all I can say to convey the horror of listening to them over and over again is:
Quote :
The sun'll come out Tomorrow Bet your bottom dollar That tomorrow There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about Tomorrow Clears away the cobwebs, And the sorrow 'Til there's none!
When I'm stuck with a day That's gray, And lonely, I just stick out my chin And Grin, And Say, Oh!
The sun'll come out Tomorrow So ya gotta hang on 'Til tomorrow Come what may Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya Tomorrow! You're always A day A way!
And now that this is stuck in everyone's head and you're all going to kill me, my work is done for the day and I must go.

Actually, Tomorrow was one of my late aunt's favorite songs. Memories from Cats being tied for first place. When I hear either song, I think of her. She's been gone for 30 years now....

I have to confess I was obsessed with the musical Annie when I was a kid.
THe problem is, that today means every song in it is burned into my memory broken-record style and drives me mad to this day.

I have the same problem with OKLAHOMA. It was the musical that the high school choir I was in put on in my senior year. I was a prompter so I NOT only learned all the songs (we all did) but all the lines too. It was years before I stopped waking up in the morning with the lyrics playing in my head!

Speaking of "The Sound of Music", can someone tell me just what "My Favorite Things" has to do with Christmas? It always get alot of coverage around this time of year. Can't see the connection.

The only connection is that the scene it appears in is set at Christmas time.

I do actually. I lurves me some Charlie Brown, Vince Guaraldi. And I like to sing carols to myself in the car. Not a fan of starting the Xmas music before Thanksgiving, though.
And here's one of my faves:
